Welcome to the forum. You will love the XD, especially since you won it.

I won a Henry Golden Boy at a Friends of the NRA dinner last week. It is one of my favorite guns because I won it. Nothing better than to tell your buddies as they are admiring your new gun, that you won it.

Have fun and enjoy your new prize. Remember, Bragging and Showing it Off are the best part of winning a gun.

Congratulations. I have used an XD9 Tactical in competition for the past three years. At a USPSA match last year, my number was called early enough that I was able to select another XD9 Tac from the prize table. I could have selected from a couple of other gun models, but I chose the XD because I shoot 20-30 competitions a year (including several out-of-state events) but I didn't have a backup to my lone competition gun.

So, after sending the new one off to Canyon Creek for customization, the new one is now my primary comp gun and the original one will get a rest as it becomes my backup comp gun (and ready for my 10-year-old son when he starts competing in a couple of years).

If you are going to use your gun in competition, I would recommend doing two things to it initially. The first is to improve the trigger with a Springer Precision trigger kit. You can do the work yourself with a 1/16" punch and a small hammer, and the cost of the kit is about $130. Once you know what you are doing, the installation can be done in about 15 minutes, and there are even videos on YouTube on how to do it.

The second thing (which you can do after you've shot competition a bit with the gun) is to put a fiber optic front sight on the gun.

Enjoy the gun. I LOVE using my XDs in competition.
