NooB from NorCal

Just wanted to say hi to all of you. I purchased my XD9 Tactical today (now have to wait for 10 days ) from Reeds Sporting goods store during their storewide sale. After days of research, I finally decided to go with the 9mm versus the .45 ACP. They are closing their doors after 50+ years of serving the outdoors sportsmen. I have been a regular customer. I do remember accompanying my dad there more than 25 years ago and admiring their gun collection for sale. Back then, I told myself this would be the place where I would buy my first gun.... I did just that back in 2002 and purchased a Ruger P95. Now having a solid performing 9mm in the XD9, the P95 will be sold to my brother to hopefully make room for a .45 ACP in a 1911 design, specifically a Kimber.

Much to my surprise, the safety certificate I have been carrying since '02 is apparently expired. Apparently, this certificate had no expiration date but recently the law makers decided certificates are only good for 5 years. So before I can buy my XD9, I had to take the test again. I took the chance without studying the booklet and missed 1 out of 30 questions.

So now, just the waiting game of 10 days. I can't wait! I'm looking forward to learning from all of you. Thank you.

John
