First Firearm, XD 40 Compact
Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. I am 27 years old and just purchased my first firearm today. I have shot a revolver many of times on my parents farm as a kid, but never bought a gun myself. I work as IT for the government and police department. I just decided that now is the time to get protection for me and my wife. I will be buying her a 38 revolver w/ laser light here shortly. I am also buying a Mossberg 500 or my friends Norenico (sp?) pump style shotgun to keep home at all times. Am I going overboard? I mean I just bought my first gun today :P

I purchased a 2008 XD 40 Compact so I am sure I will find this forum useful.

And, no, you're not going overboard. Two or three defense guns are no big deal. Just look at the collections some people on this site have (as announced by their signatures).
