looking for advice on my 2nd handgun

hi guys. i have a glock 26 right now for CC

I am taking a job that will require me to be armed at all times. the glock 26 obviously, is not a duty weapon. I have had to reduce the grip size on the glock and i sanded the finger grooves off, but I am considering a springfield for a duty weapon because they appear to have smaller grips and/or better ergonomics. I am convinced they are nearly or as reliable as a glock is. and much better looking. a few questions

would you guys reccomend the compact version or the full size version ? my only desire for the compact was so i could also CC it when I am not working

I have not shot a springfield yet, so tommorow night hopefully I will be renting one to try out

does safariland make a holster for the springfield ? I want the 9mm version

and on a side note, the SC looks INCREDIBLY small. is it hard to fire ? as of right now I am only interested in 9mm

great choice

While I haven't found a holster for my XD9SC yet I can tell you that it's not too small. Men as well as women find that it's a great fit for their hand. It's accurate right out of the case. I love the 16 rd mags especially since I got my uplula. You will not be disappointed.

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest to handle both the compact and the service to see what feels the best to you. Lots of people on this forum love the compact. The XD9 Service just felt better to me so that's the one I went with. As far as holsters, depends on how you intend to carry,IWB or OWB. The one I use for OWB I don't see mentioned on this forum. It's a G&G (Gould&Goodrich) 3-slot pancake holster.(priced nicely at 39.99 from officersstore.com) I really like this for my XD9.) Good luck deciding.

+1 on the 9mm service. I have one with the ss slide and it is very reliable and with the right holster very concealable

My XD SC 9mm is easy to shoot...I think they shoot better than Glocks, too.

They just feel good in your hand.

Probably the 4" XD Service model is what you want, though.

The XD9SC is a great weapon.... I got Pearce Grip Extension for XD to get a better grip on it. I have both a 9mm and 45 in compact versions. I like the 45 for its stopping power. I carry the 9mm when dressing up. The XD45 Compact can carry 13 rounds with the extension ... Springfield XD Magazine with Sleeve. Here is the website for ordering..PISTOLGEAR | XD HOLSTER, MAGAZINES AND MORE
Good luck.. remember the fit is what makes your weapon feel good in your hands and give you the best groupings.

well, since your only interested in 9mm, the compact would be out of your consideration seeing as how its only available in 45. that being said, i second the vote for the 9mm service. theres no need for the xdsc since you have the g26! rent an xd, any xd for that matter and you will fall in love! good luck!
