Talking New XD 45 owner

Hello from Northern Indiana. Bought my first XD yesterday, and am heading to the range in a few to try it out. I am an Ex-police officer and not new to guns. I currently own several shot guns, a couple of rifles and for handguns, I have a Taurus PT 1911 SS; a Taurus PT 145 Mil pro .45 ACP; a Taurus PT 111 Mil Pro .9mm; and now a Springfield XD-45. Got a great deal on the XD or I would have saved a little more to get the newest model M. Will be back to report on the new gun. Am also a new reloader, and have reloaded a few .45 acp. Plan on trying these loads out in the 1911, and if all goes well (No blow ups. etc) then I will continue to reload my recipe!! I chose the XD after reading and watching videos about the gun from this site and others. I was going to by a Block..uh I mean Glock, but after watching a video on Limp Wristing several guns and the Block failing all tests,I chose the XD. I hope to accessorize with Hi Viz sights and a laser, down the road. Anyone who reloads and wants to give me any help, I would appreciate it. I use a Lee four position Turret press and lee precision dies. I use Accurate #2 Powder, Hornady bullets and Winchester primers. I have no tumbler as of yet, so I clean the shells in the washing machine tied up in a sock! Works quite well I might add. Well enough for now and hope to Post and learn much here and Thanks.

Yep, congrats!
I'm interested to hear about your range experiences with the XD too and that's one of the one's I'm looking at. Any idea when the M's will be avail for retail? I've read as far out as early 09 but who knows.

The XDM is available now in stores... only in the .40 at this time.

Welcome to the Forum from San Antonio!.. ummm actually both forums-- the XD forum and the reloaders Forum( that we don't have yet)

To save a little $$ look at Precision Bullets Index Page . They are great and don't lead up the barrel. I use the 200gr RNFP for my .45 and the 115gr FP or 147 gr FP for my 9mm.

Do you have calipers? Something that messed me up as I first started reloading is the OAL. I use a 1.200-1.209 OAL for my .45ACP. and it works in my XD45 and I have shot a few in a couple of 1911 and it works great.

Welcome again and we have to have pics of your gun family and the new addition... IT'S THE LAW!!
