Welcome from Winston-Salem! I am an aspiring XD owner. I plan to put a deposit down on an XD9SC in the near future. Then, it's just a matter of time. It will be my very first gun and I'm learning more and more from this forum about responsible gun ownership, handling, etc. Awesome site--enjoy!

Welcome from south Florida. I picked up my XDM on Thursday and will be shotting it for the first time today. I can't wait for the range to open at 10AM!

Welcome to the forum. Having Diesel used to allow us to buy the cheaper fuel. What has gone wrong?

Cool! I've decided that no more than I smoke, I'm going to buy decent cigars rather than JR's el cheapos.

I ran some numbers the other day and we're still coming out ahead. I don't recall off the top of my head (and I can't find the email dang it!) but figuring the mileage my Golf gets: *IF* gasoline stayed the same price (which we all know ain't gonna happen) diesel would have to go up to around $5.50/gal before the efficiency difference would cancel out. That's figuring a gas burner at 35 mpg (it was either that or 30 mpg that I used) and $3.98/gal and my Golf at 48 mpg and $4.74/gal for diesel.

As to why diesel is higher than gasoline: the demand is higher and more constant. Freight trucks burn diesel. Locomotives burn diesel. Neither of them can stop running just because fuel prices go up. So the demand is much more constant than the demand for gasoline.

What was the traffic like on the roads this weekend? We didn't go anywhere and I doubt we were the only ones.....

My Mom has a place in SW Colorado and I go out a couple of times a year to de-stress and do maintenance. Was going to drive out this spring and fly out this fall *until* I started checking air fares. I ended up flying out over Memorial Day and am planning on driving out over Labor Day. The price of plane tickets jumped more than it looks like the price of diesel will between the two dates. Crazy.
