Not Exactly a New Member, But Finally Got an XD...
Greetings! As you can see from my join date, I'm not exactly a new member here but I did finally agree to purchase a XD45 Service last night. It's the newer model with the ambi thumb-safety and is unfired, NIB. A friend of mine had an early HS2000 years ago and I liked it but stuck to my Glocks, which I shot pretty well and used for carry and competition. As much as I liked the HS/XD I didn't want to bother with a new pistol, new holsters, new mag pouches, etc etc...
Before my deployment I sold off all of Gaston's creations since they'd just end up being safe-queens while I was away. During the deployment I picked up an alloy, 4" 1911 from Springfield that I want to use as a carry gun and since I've been home I needed another pistol for competitions. I didn't want to go back to the Glocks because I simply cannot shoot a Glock and then shoot a 1911, the grip angle is too different and my point of aim gets all messed up. For a comptetition pistol I wanted something in either .45 or .40 because 9mm doesn't get the same score for the same hits in some classes that I shoot. Either would have been fine, but the .45 is a caliber that I already have. Anyway, gotta start shoppin' around for items to pimp out my new XD. All the best. Weazel

Thanx for the greeting, Allstop.
I'm already seeing a potential problem with this, and I haven't even picked up the pistol yet I can't find a recoil spring/guide rod setup for the .45 in 4". This is kinda strange, and I guess I can live with it, but it's always nice to add some weight to the nose and be able to change recoil springs to match your hand-loads. I'll have to keep searching Thanx again! Weazel
