no wait in Ohio
We don't have the wait time in Ohio, thank God. I was also impressed with our Sheriff's dept. Went Tues. to apply for CHL and went back to pick it up Wed. morning. Now if it would ONLY stop raining long enough to go practice.

more waiting
Wow! Here in WA, I have heard it takes a month to get a CHL. I'm still not sure if I will apply for that or not. I'm new to handguns, and would like to get a little more comfy w/ them before i carry.

same here
I won't carry until I get much better. I thought it would take weeks to get my CHL but got it in less than 24 hrs. Just bought 200 rounds and plan on doing a lot of practice the way my instructor suggested at CCW. He made us shuffle backwards and go through a lot of simulations that could happen in a retreat situation. He's also offering an advanced course this August. We used a publication from NRA called the basics of pistol shooting, which might help to make everyone more comfortable in class. There was a good mixture of experience there, some had 30 years of shooting, hunters, and myself, the lone female. We all felt on the same level when we left.
