Question New Member- Self Defense ammo ?'s

I am a new member, though I have owned an XD-40 4" for about 2 years now. I just got an XD-40SC and am wondering what people recommend for self defense ammo. One of my biggest concerns is going through someone and injuring innocent bystanders. I am contemplating the Winchester SXT's, Hornady TAP and Federal Hydra-shock. Does anyone have any stats for ammo fired from 3" pistols?

Spend a couple hours reading the huge number of posts in the Ammo section. You will find what you are looking for.

This is a subject that has been beaten to death.

By the way. . . . welcome to the forum. Nice intro you got there.

Which ever one works best in your gun. There is no real "winner" IMO. Any of the name brand defensive hollow points work well.

It doesn't matter. Pick whichever feeds the best in your gun. I doubt you'll see any noticeable difference in knockdown power of the different "name brand" hollow points.

Welcome! There is a nice article in the June 08 Combat Handguns magazine. Talks about the best ammo for use in the latest small 3" barrel semi-autos. After testing he recommends the CorBon 115gr DPX JHP for best JHP expansion at the low velocities of the short barreled guns.

And as Tally stated, do a search in the ammo section.
