Like alot of other folks the XD fit my hand better. I've had a glock 21, 17, and 30. I recently purchased an XD 45c and took it out the first time last Sunday. I shoot it much better than the glock. Though I have friends/LEO's that still like their Glocks better. Best thing to do is to shoot both if you have a range that rents. See which you like better. Let us know which one you choose.

I own both and prefer XD even tho both aren't perfect. This is what I don't like about my guns.
XD45 service -FTF with Federal HST ( only ammo it won't eat ) Glock 30sf -Plastic guide rod -Can only fit 9rds in the 10rd mag -Follower on the mag are crap. It really looks like glock QC has gone downhill. This sound very cheesy buy another great reason to get a XD is being able to join XDTALK! Go check out the glock forum and notice how much help is actually given. Usually the problem get unresolved because most of the member blame YOU and never the gun. I find it hard to imagine how anyone can hold both guns and think the glock feels better than the XD! the XD has a much more natural feel to it and to me, i shoot better with a gun that feels the best to me, therefore, i went with the XD! But, feel isnt everything! if i could shoot better with a glock i would own a glock, but i cant shoot for sh*t with a glock! So u should hold and shoot both and i would say that one u shoot the best with should be the one u buy! goodluck and let us know the outcome!

Please let me try to make this easy for you...buy the XD! Seriously, the XD fit better in my hand, shot where I aimed, and it is very reliable. All of this adds up to a ton of fun at the range and a gun you can feel safe carrying.
That being said, the Glock is a great gun. I just found the XD to be more fitting to my needs. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again. In fact, I'm beginning to look at the 9mm for my range gun since the price of ammo is going up just as fast as the price of gas.

I've got to add the same thing the others have said. The XD fits my hand better than most other pistols. It's not a 1911 , but the grip angle is the same which leads to a more natural feeling when firing the pistol. I didn't like the grip width of the glocks. They all felt chunky in my hand except for the Glock 36 (which is a single stack magazine). I prefer .45 ACP over the other cailbers, but I am old fashioned.

Everyone wants you to buy an XD because it fit their hand better.
Go shoot them both and get what YOU like. I have no preference. I have a Glock 23 (40) and an XD 40. I like them both and like to shoot them both. But I shoot my 9's a lot more because of the cost of ammo. Don't let anyone scare you away from the 9mm for a self defense gun. Do your own ballistics research for SD rounds. Also, do the math on the $ you'll spend on range ammo for a year and see if it makes any difference to you which caliber you choose.
