Thanks everyone for the welcome. I keep researching and have yet to read a negative review of the XD9. Provided I like it at the range, I will probably make the purchase.

Does anyone have a suggestion on another 9mm? It seems the second choice, by many, would be the Glock 19 or 17 but I didn't like the way the Glocks felt in my hands.

Thanks again

-Mike

If the firearm does not fit your hand well, you will not enjoy shooting. Comfort is a big factor in how accurate you can shoot. I looked at the glocks back in the late 1990 before the XDs came out. I did not shoot the ones I borrowed from a friend very well, so I got a revolver instead. The first time I shot a XD45, I hit the target right where I was aiming. I was sold. All the 9mm you have listed are fine firearms, but what do you want and why do you want it? Is it for the 'cool' factor, do your friends have a certain brand and to fit in you will spend more than you want/can to appease them instead of what you want. Just my $.02!

I’m definitely not in the market for the “cool factor.” I was able to rent the XD9 Service today and, much like your experience with the XD45, I hit the target where I was aiming. Made the purchase today.
Thanks again
