Hey fellas how's it goin'? I bought my very first handgun today and it is the xd compact in .45 cal. (4" barrel). I am new to the world of handguns but am not new to guns in general. I was an avid hunter (deer and birds)and weekend plinker in my earlier days....but just kind of fell flat and didn't do much more of it once my wife and I had kids. (still manage to get out and hunt pheasant though) Decided it was time to invest in a gun that I could use for self/home defense as well as something to discourage bear or cougar advances in my travels in the Mtns. of Montana. Black bear are an occurance and just recently I read a Wildlife biologists report on a Female Grizzly and her two cubs in the area that I frequent with my wife and three kids. Yeah, I know that a sidearm isn't the best thing to bring to a bear fight but it sure beats the hell out of having nothing. (the chance of having an encounter like that is next to nothing I know, but better safe than sorry). So, Thank you for allowing me to engage with you fine fellas and now lets talk guns!!
