Hi everyone! Great site! Just bought my new XD 45 (with thumb safety) 2 days ago. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet...wife doesn't know...LOL...so I've got to keep it under wraps for a bit.
Lots of information here and lots of experts. What a cool place to chat and learn new things. Happy Hunting. --Buzz Gum |

You know what they say right.
It's easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

LOL...it's funny you should say that...I just told my co-worker that this morning. The Ben Franklin quote is one of my favorites.
Well, my wife knows I'm getting a gun (just not that I already got it) Plus she doesn't know how I will be paying for it. She handles the finances and knows where every penny goes...except for the cash I've been stashing away for 3 years. Wouldn't have the money to buy it other wise. I used my secret slush fund to purchase the pistol, a mini-gun vault, ammo for it and ammo for my mosin nagant m44 that I bought 8 years ago and never fired. The gun-vault was a prerequisite for the pistol since I have 3 little boys. So any suggestions on how I should break it to her? Or should I just keep it in the gun-vault and never say anything about it? |

I would imagine the Gun-Vault would be a dead give away. How to break it to her? Hmmm Slowly. Just tell her. If there was some kind of agreement that you saved money that was "yours" or even secretly. Its not like it came out of the family pot right.

Thats a tricky walk. If you tell her that you purchased it, she'll have to know about your money stash. I find it best to stay honest so that I don't have to deal with that crap.
Of course the best possible way to tell her would be to say that you did the 'responsible thing' and saved money on the side to make this purchase. However you do it, good luck!
