Not so sure about this, but why not?
OK, so I'm an oldster who has never owned a striker-fired pistol... until today. Saw an XD45 with a thumb safety and thought I'd give it a go. A pistol without a hammer. Hmmmm...
I know from past experience that in an emergency (after decades of using nothing but 1911s), my thumb will waste precious nanoseconds looking for a thumb safety if one isn't there. If I grab hold of an M9, Smith, or Ruger P-series, my thumb will swipe the safety on. Just how it is. Anyway, that's how I ended up at XDTalk. Thanks for any tips, news, reviews, etc.

Well, by "giving it a go" does that mean you now own an XD45?? I hope so!
Oh, Welcome to the forum!

Maybe the XD won't be used for SD in your situation. Still you will enjoy it at the range.
