Hello from southwest missouri!
Hey there. Just came across a link for this site, on a local firearm forum. Being the huge XD fan that I am...I couldn't resist creating an account on here.
Anyways...I suppose it would only be right to tell you my XD story. So here it goes... Back in summer of '04, I moved from my hometown of Chicago to southwest missouri...about 19 at the time. I had a very very weak knowledge in firearms...but I wanted to learn. About a year later I ended up making some friends through a local car club, and they got me in to C&R firearms. Naturally this lead to more modern items such as AR-15s, AK-47s, etc. On my 21st birthday I was hellbent on getting a pistol. Upon looking at the selection the local gun store had to offer...something caught my eye. It was the bi-tone(stainless slide) XD-9 service model. Bought it that day. Ever since...I've been through various other firearms, various add-ons for the XD, etc. I loved that XD-9 more than anything else I had at the time. Almost 2 years later and here I am, don't own the XD-9 anymore...traded up for the all-black XD-45acp. I currently have that, and a Mossberg 500a 7+1(pistol grip, tri-rail forend, front vertical grip). As far as future plans go...I've been considering getting some work done to the XD, or even trading up for one of the newer models. They may not be as modifiable as the 1911...but it's a fantastic firearm that I'll never regret purchasing. |

I've been non-stop reading since I joined. Tomorrow my list of things to do will contain "filling engravings" and "getting total price to send pistol to canyon creek for work".
Only going on what the local gun shops had to offer...it seemed like there was almost no customization options for these apart from a taclight or reddot. After only an hour or two of being here...a whole new world of customizations has been revealed. Time to start doing some chores around the house to get the ol' lady in a better mood before she finds out how much I plan on spending. |
