Lurking since Xmas 2007

I've participated a little but decided I ought to introduce myself. I'm retired USAF in Pinehurst NC, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas. I was never stationed East of the MISS., other than Europe. I spent 13 years in Europe and married in Germany (she has her US citizenship now). We retired on the East Coast so that the trips would not be so long nor costly for her to return home.
We have a lot of military from FT Bragg in the area. I own and operate a cigar & pipe shop, many of these great guys come in. I've become friends with many of them. The training that they have received, and are willing to pass on is invaluable. Most of them have special forces training and experience that I have never received and they know guns! When I decided to get one they voted XD9SC! I am more than happy that I complied!
I've gone through almost a thousand rounds at the range with the XD, not one FTF or FTE. I have a CCW permit and for warmer months I have a S&W642 airweight for pocket carry, (also recommended by SF guys) Have only 300 rounds through it. Also picked up a Buck Mark .22 for plinking and improving trigger control, about 1500 rounds with it.
I am a die-hard-Conservative! I am responsible for all of my mistakes and the government needs to BUTT OUT of the individual rights and choices, allow us to make our mistakes and to be accountable for/to ourselves.
I'm a long-winded Texan, still!
My handle is E-Dubya, as in E.W., my initials.

Welcome from PA. Finally, someone willingly steps up and claims his own responsibility and doesn't expect the government to babysit and hold your hand.

Also glad to see you call yourself a conservative and not a Republican...sad story the party is in right now, but not nearly as much of a disaster the Democrats are in right now.

David, my shop is the "Matchbox, Cigars & Pipes", right on US1, just 45 min. south of Cary. Week-days, we're open from 9-6:00 and Sat. 9-5:00.
Come on down and I'll treat you to a good smoke (a bowl of tobacco or a cigar) and a cup of coffee. Just mention this forum. It'll be to show my thanks to all for all the information that I've gleaned from this site.
