Any suggestions?
Hello, I am a new member and also a new XD 40 owner. I just bought my 1st XD for carry and defense. I am looking to put a set of night sights on and any comments would be very helpful. Also, any recommendations on good range ammo? Any comments on MagSafe ammo for this gun? Finally what is a good self defense round for this gun? Many thanks!

Welcome from West Virginia. Can't help you on the night sights, as I don't have any yet. My XD loves Federal HST, it's my defense ammo.

Night sites: Check out TruGlo TFOs...fiber optics for day time glowing plus tritium for night time.
I use Speer GoldDots in my XD45 and my cousin uses them in his duty Glock in .40 s&w... Magtech, it's fine, but pricier than other ammo available. If you're just looking for the cheapest thing out there, check out WWB or Blazer Brass.

Welcome from VA. All I can tell you is what I use. I carry a 40sc with TruGlo TFO's They are excellent at night and they are really bright during the day as well. As far as carry ammo, I use Remington Golden Saber's. I've also used federal hydra-shok's, but I prefer the Golden Saber's

Welcome to the forum from UT! Most XDs will feed all factory ammo without any issues. Use the cheapest ammo for range practice and invest in one of the self defense loads for defensive use.
