2 new xds

hi iv'e been reading as a guest for a while, and decided to join. i just purchased 2 xd 40 sc. One for me and 1 for the wife. i have shot rifles and shotguns but never a pistol. my wife has only shot a 22 rifle like twice.
i bought two because i got a decent deal on two. we've been practicing safety with dummy rounds, but haven't had a chance to shoot yet. she is petite, i guess my question is, is this to gun going to slap her silly or does it handle recoil ok. im pretty sure i'll be fine but i wonder if i " jumped the gun" buying two. any insight what to expect would be nice. ladies?

Welcome to the forum. Many people find the recoil of the .40 to be "snappy". She may be fine with it though.

The 40sc has a good amount of snap to its recoil. I have the 40 tactical and the bigger gun limits that. My wife has no problem with the recoil. The size of the xd frame and trigger may give her problems with accuracy if she has small hands. This is because if she has her finger completely stretched out to reach the trigger, she will always be moving the gun when she pulls the trigger.

yes she does in fact have small hands, but she has long fingers. shes worried it's going to "jump" out of her hands. this of course worries me.
