Just purchased my XD using some advice from the forum.

Just figured I'd introduce myself as I think I'll be posting on here more often. I'm from Columbus, Ohio, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and currently deployed (on leave right now) to Iraq operating in south east Baghdad. I'm an infantryman, have been for 3 years now. I was promoted to Sergeant in October of last year. I've had 10+ buddies in my company blown up already, only one serious casualty, no deaths. As far as my knowledge on weapons? I grew up hunting waterfowl and field birds with my dad. I started off with a 21 GA Remmington and from there went to a semi-auto browning. Now whenever I go home I use my dads over-under browning (who needs more than two shots? ) I've never owned a gun personally and just put a deposit on a XD 5" .45 compact. The only handgun I've shot so far was my issued 9mm Beretta I had when I was a machine gunner. I didn't get much training on it, but I'm pretty sure the gun was just an inaccurate piece of ****. I bought this weapon with the purpose of CCW in mind when I come back home (thinking about in waist). While I'm deployed I think I am going to obsess about customizing and upgrading the gun (which I have no idea how to get started with). Anyways just kind of a back round about me, you guys can help me make informed decisions about hand guns and I can tell you what it's like to shoot machine guns and automatic grenade launchers . Any sexy upgrade/customization ideas you guys could give me would be great.

Here's some videos of me in Afghanistan last year when I was a machine gunner if you care to check it out http://www.dropshots.com/x0m3nx

Anyways, hope to get to know some of ya and I'll talk with y'all later.

Thanks for the thanks, I'm sure 80% of pistols are better than that 9mm Beretta. As far as hunting goes Packerfan, I'm not to big into it, but I LOVE to pheasant hunt with my labs. My dad's chocolate lab points even, not sure if my new lab will or not, she's only a year and I haven't had a chance to hunt with her yet.

Pheasants are great, I'm sure they're hard to come by in Phoenix though Hell they're hard to come by in Ohio.
