Smile NEWBIE XD45 Tactical for CCW??

Hi
I'm new to the forum and wondering if anybody out there has used the XD45 (4inch)Tactical for a CCW. I just finished my conceal carry trainning and I would like to get some information on this to help me decide if I want the 45 .40 or 9mm. I got a killer deal ($419) on a new XD 45 4" Tactical on hold at my local Gander MTN. I'm used to the 45 round with my Colt 1991 A1 so that would'nt be an issue. I'm new to the CCW thing and the feedback would be helpful.

Thanks.

Well, the XD tactical models are all 5"...what did you get 4" or 5"? I have an XD45 compact 4" and love it. I carry IWB mostly, but I started with OWB. Caliber is all personal preference and what you can afford to shoot. My XD and my 1911 are both .45 acp, well every pistol I have that's not a .22 is .45 acp. That's just how it is for now.

NEWBIE XD45 Tactical for CCW??

Hi
Now I'm new to the SA thing so please excuse me if I mess up. To my understanding the Service model was a 5" and the Tactical a 4"? I got a 4" which I was assuming a Tactical. It came with 2 13rnd mag and the accessories pkg. Have you ever trie a shoulder holster yet? Now the compact had a shorter hand grip correct?

Thanks for the info

No big deal, you have it backwards. The 4" models are the service and the 5" are the tactical. I have a 4" compact and it's nice for carrying with the short grip. You'll just need to find a holster that helps you hid the gun the best on your body. I'm a skinny guy (6' 150 lbs.) and I just tried a couple different holsters to get one that works for me. You need to decide if you want to carry the gun and holster inside the waist band of your pants or outside on your belt.

I've never tried a shoulder holster. I have tried both IWB and OWB and I like IWB as the only part of the gun I have to hide with my shirt/jacket/whatever is the grip.

Where do you live in Minnesota? I used to live close to Wilmar in Kandiyohi County. I was in New London.
