New XD 45 Owner
Just bought it Saturday afternoon. I consider myself a couple steps below enthusiast, but plan to change my personal rating in the near future through training and range time.
Before purchasing I tried the S&W M&P45, Glock 21, H&K USP Tactical 45 and the XD 45. In the end It was either the H&K or the XD. I went back and fired them both a second time. The XD just felt like it belonged in my hand. Just an FYI, shooting black wolf rounds (50 each) in all the range guns resulted in 2 jams on the S&W. Although it was a range gun, so were the others. Went to the range and put 300 rds through it about 2 hours after I bought it. Had one jam on the 34th round, but again I was shooting black wolf. It was ugly too. Kind of a backwards stovepipe with the cartridge pointing out. I have read about goods and bads of black wolf and it was free from a friend (commercial load) so I will try something different next time, tomorrow. I will chalk it up to a one time thing. My first question I will also put in the main forum, but for those who look here, does anyone else with the Black 5" compact P/N XD9655HCSP06 have Tactical stamped on their slide on the left side? |

Welcome. I'm new here as well, and just ordered my XD 45.
Curious: why did you like the XD better than the M&P? I think folks here will be interested to hear your reasons. |

Truth be told it just felt better to me in a very simple kind of way, nothing to complexe really. Grip size and fit was easy to slip into, holding the grip safety was easy and comfortable, and the trigger felt like it was where it should be for my hand and finger. Trigger pull felt shorter. Operation also seemd to be easier. Break down is very easy. I have an old S&W model 59 and I really don't like the slide release. The H&K is similar IMHO. And finally, in the end, $$$ did make a percentage of the difference. As stated, I'm less than novice, so I figured i'd go with whats good for the $$$ and felt like I could enjoy the piece also.

Welcome and great choice !
i shot the S&W MP45 at the range once, the overall feel was odd. wasn't comfprtable in my hands and i wasnt shooting well with it. the XD45 Tactical on the other hand hit most metal moving targets i aimed for

Welcome to the forum from UT. The XD 45 is a great gun. I test fired different makes and model and the XD just felt the best and I was the most accurate with it!
