First time owner as of 2 hrs ago (from People's republic of CA)
I just purchased (3 hours ago) a xd9 (OK it is not a manly caliber) for my first pistol.
I am psyched, and will be 'cooling off' for 10 days. A couple questions which are not XD specific. I do backcountry camping quite a bit, driving on a motorcycle from CA to Montana or Alaska, with my pound dog Tucker, is there a place where I can findout the rules from state to state whether it is legal to carry a pistol locked up in my panniers? ( I once was arrested in Washington D.C. as a 12 yr old kid in DC for having an air rifle pistol shooting icicles) Thanks Cheers, Joseph |

 .To answer your question, if it's locked, unloaded, and inaccessible, it should not be a problem. Be aware that if you have a CCW license from CA. some states might not accept it in their state.
