New here... looking to buy my first gun and first XD

Hi everyone, I just joined the boards. I recently shot a handgun for the first time. last week!

I am now shopping for a personal firearm. I am thinking about an XD .40, not sure 4" or 5". I like the bi-tone a lot but its not available on the 5" according the website. So I came here to find out if they will make a bi-tone 5" someday or if it is otherwise possible to get one in this configuration.

So far I've shot about 200 rounds in 5 different handguns and the Springfield .40 was my favorite. Also shot a sig, glock, s&w, and a revolver.

Hello and welcome! I have a .40 4" that I use as my carry. It has been fantastic.

Welcome to the forum. As to the 5 in Bi-tone configuration. You can look into getting the slide hard chromed. It looks good. And its supposed to be a really tough finish from what I've heard.

Prawls: Good call - I'm a big btls mark.

So you can get the slide chromed without affecting the operation of the gun? Do you need to get the sights removed before sending it somewhere? Anyone know a shop in Detroit area that would do the chroming?

This seems like a good solution to get the exact gun I want, color is secondary to actual function but if I'm going to spend some money might as well make it the way I want

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll find a .40 Tac-5 makes an accurate shooter - hella fun too!

+1 on the Hard Chroming the slide if that's the look you're going for. That finish sure is resilient to all sorts of abuse!
