Pick up my first XD Aug 25th

I pick up my first XD 40 @ SharpShooter in Torrance LA this Saturday.

It was between the XD and the Glock. After renting both to get a feel for one, I ended up liking both. The Glock had a nice tight trigger, the XD just felt good to aim (ended up having somewhat better grouping with the XD).

They were out of the Glock, so it made the decision all the easier, I bought the XD on the spot. I wanted to shop around for a deal, but felt I had been procrastinating too long to get a gun and felt the price tag was good.

Looking forward to getting more comfortable with the gun, take some friends shooting (and hopefully they get the bug), and having it near bye at the house (LA sucks).

Great on getting the XD and you will enjoy it. I shot an XD9 at my local indoor range and ordered one the next day. It won't get to my FFL for a few more days, then the paperwork and then the 10 day waiting period. At least I will have time to get some ammo.

ooh, I need to get ammo. I'm a total newb to this. From what I understand some types of ammo can premature the weapon faster than others? And there are many quality differences. What is a good all around round?

There are a number of target loads that will not prematurely age your weapon - try Winchester FMJ usually reasonably priced, works for my .45 service. Navy?

Thanks for the ammo advice.

Yeah, Navy. 4 years active on a gator freighter with you guys, got out, went into the reserves and into a coastal warfare unit. EOD is looking tempting right now, but I want to finish school, I can't with the way they deploy.

The store I went to didn't have Winchester FMJ, so I ended up getting the Winchester Ranger Law Enforcment Ammunition 155gr jhp RA40155HP
http://www.winchester.com/lawenforce...fRA40155HP.doc

I bought 2 boxes of 50 for $14.98 each. Whats the opinion on these rounds?
