Probably a dumb question
I will be getting my XD9 soon. I wanted to make sure that I do the right thing before I take it out to the range. I assume that a filel strip, cleaning and function check would be necessary before shooting the XD. I have two 1911s and as far as I can tell that is what I should do. Did some searching on the forum and wasn't able to find the answer before I posted this question. Thnaks.

This is the Newbie Welcome center. I would suggest doing your intro here and then posting this question in the appropriate forum. It may not get many serious views posted here.
Welcome to the forum!

You are on the right track. Your new pistol is going to come with more lube than you want on it. Just a basic field strip, clean, re-oil, and some dry fire practice will have you ready for the range.

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty sure that is what I needed to do and just wanted to make sure as I would rather err on the side oif caution.
