Welcome JC.

The 5" does give you more accuracy because it obviously has a longer barrel. However if you're just looking for some home protection, you can't go wrong with the service model. You can go grab a tactical light/laser for your front rail and maybe some grips and you should be good to go. The tactical models are more for accuracy nuts and SWAT teams and such that need that added accuracy for obvious reasons when clearing houses and such. I may eventually get one just to get one but not necessarily because I need it.

I know you already bought your service model, you'll be quite pleased with it.

Welcome to the forum from Tampa Fl. The extra inch of barrel probably will not help with accuracy with such short ranges. Either way you're gonna love it. I'd go with the service "4" inch model.
