NJ RULES! (with an iron fist)
Well, after 9 MONTHS of waiting (and lurking around here) I FINALLY recieved my Firearm ID and my first permit to purchase a handgun, and so I have finally registered as a user here. I'm sure most members here are familiar with the absurd amount of time New Jersey makes you wait on your first firearm purchase (subsequent handgun purchases may only take 1 or 2 months, haha). So I picked up the permit last Friday, and on Saturday I went out and bought my first firearm EVER - The Springfield XD .45ACP service model. Love it! I am thrilled to finally be able to call myself a gun owner, and now instead of sitting around wondering when the local PD will call me to pick up my FID card and permit, I can sit around and wonder what my next firearm purchase will be - I'm thinking a Mossberg 12ga. Any other members from the Fascist state of New Jersey who want to commiserate or go shooting at my favorite range, feel free to PM or email me any time. I hope you all remembe how great it feels the first time you handle a gun that you can truly call your own, and if not - close your eyes and think back, because it is truly a great feeling!

Welcome to the forum from UT and to the XD45 family.
It took longer to fill out the purchase form at the gun shop than the actual background check. In and out in about 15 minutes! Happy shooting. |

Welcome, sir, and enjoy that new pistola.
I should warn you, though: in NJ you are perilously close to the territory of King Michael the Petulant; be on your guard for his agents of evil.

WOW...You must have something really solid keeping you there. No way I would be in Jersey. I remember my first handgun and long gun...S&W 66 and a Ruger Mini-14 (1984)...New Jersey...Pack up yer stuff and move out west...preferably northwest.

Welcome from northern DE. Depending where you live, you may be just across the River from me.
Enjoy your new handgun - it's quite a fine choice!!
