Wilkomen!

Always willing to welcome new people into my life - and the more diverse, the more interesting. So long as the idiots stay out. Thus far, you've shown the wisdom to join our little gang, so that proves that you are surely not an idiot. So once again, I say, "Welcome!"

Welcome! Did you get to pick yours up directly from the factory? Was it after a VIP tour and trip to their test firing range? Kidding, I suppose, but shoot straight and shoot often. You'll love your XD/HS!

Can you shoot on private property? Are gun ranges common? What is the gun range fee, in US Dollars (approximately)?? It's anywhere from $7.00 USD to $15.00 here in Texas.

Well, it was fresh from the factory, in it's little plastic casings and with the factory oil all over the barrel (I saw this when I racked the slide). Although I don't think it was compact version, it didn't strike me as a big gun..but holding it in the hands sure feels like one of the big guys.

Technically speaking no, (as far as I know) only at gun ranges..BUT, if you have a remote ranch/house somewhere in the hills or something far away from residential area, it shouldn't be a problem.

I live in the third largest city in the state and we have 2 gun ranges for firearms, one for civies and one for LEO's. I guess every bigger town or city has at least one.

About 4 to 5 dollars tops and with that (at least at my gun range) you can shoot till the sun goes down ie. there's no time restriction.

Welcome to the forum! I am guessing that your pistol is a 9mm. I am considering getting a XD9 Service to go with my XD45.
