Hello all i just picked up my new XD40 last night havnt got to shhot it yet wont get ther until after next week do to work cant wait till i can tho is there anything i need to do to it before i go to the range. some say lube the slide some say no whats everybody opion

Thanks all for the input i know i will find very useful information on here

Welcome from the East Side. Just get it out of the case, field strip it, and give it a good cleaning before shooting. The rails don't need much at all. You can put a drop or two on a Q-tip and wipe the slide where it rides on the rails and then rails themselves. Anything more than that is going to collect gunk, junk, dirt, dust, and grime.

Some use Gun Grease, but I haven't tried it yet myself.
