Greetings from Mouse-town (Orlando)
Hey everybody,
I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, every since one of the employees at the range handed me an XD45 to look at. I shoot there periodically and this gent has seen a couple of the 1911s that I normally carry or shoot. He said something like, 'You're a .45ACP fan- ever seen one of THESE?'. I was pretty impressed. None of the ranges around here rent any XDs for me to try, but from what I've read I wouldn't be dissappointed with a .45ACP Compact. Anyone from the Orlando area know a range that rents XDs? I've been to Oak Ridge and Shoot Straight and I'll try to hit Reig's tomorrow. Gander Mountain up in Lake Mary has everything in stock EXCEPT for the Compact and prices around here are roughly $550+ tax. I think I'll wait until after the gun show at the fairgrounds July 7-8 and see if anything is available there. It will give me a chance to go through the safe and thin out the herd a little. I have enough (is there ever really 'enough'?) equipment now that I can't justify adding another handgun, but I won't feel bad if I sell off or trade a couple to fund an XD. My wife refers to this as my "recycling program"... I'll probably be bugging the forum from time to time with questions and I hope you don't mind. I've built several 1911's, but polymer framed guns are new to me. Take care, Waldo1 |

Hey! I found Waldo
Greetings from Melbourne! Don't know any ranges which do rentals in Orlando, but there are a couple this way. Bit far to go, but...

Welcome to the forum from UT, so no help on ranges in your area. I have the XD45 Service model and it is my primary carry gun for now. If I had waited about a month, I could have gotten a compact when they came out but I didn't know they were comming and just had to get an XD after shooting a friends.
