New member, XD9 converted me.
I have been shooting since I was 10, however, just recently got back into it. Started on a Marlin model 60, went to a Rem 870, Chinese SKS, got my CCW a few months back and bought a Taurus 605.
I thought I was a revolver man. Slowly, I started reading about semi-autos. Last week, one day, I decided I was going to look into the XD9's, so I'd have a handgun cheaper to shoot than my .357. I went to my favorite gun shop, thinking they wouldn't have one in, but they did. Had just got it in that day. It was little more expensive than I thought (but still a very good deal, $475), and looked (and felt) so nice. I just had to buy it right then and there. Went and shot 100 rds an hour afterward, and now I'm hooked. I still like revolvers, and plan on purchasing a .44mag in the future. I'm debating whether to buy a .45ACP next, though. I'm still learning, and have lots of questions. If anyone is from the southeastern Indiana area, let me know; I've been looking for an occasional shooting partner. My friends all shoot, but not much. I like nature, old country music, delta blues, surf instrumentals, learning steel guitar, and drinking whiskey around a fire out in the woods with a few friends. I'm a quiet person, but I can get rowdy. That's more than anyone here should want to know about me, but that's my introduction! I hope to learn a lot here, and answer a question or two in the future.

Welcome to the forum from UT! I have gone down the same road as you except I ended up with a XD45 Service! I love my revolvers and leverguns but since I got my XD, they have been as lonely as my wife!

Welcome to the forum! You will enjoy the XD 45 if you ever purchase it. A true, first class weapon to shoot.

The XD9 is a great gun. You'll love it! Is it a sub-compact, service or tactical?
Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I kind of forgot I had posted here, so I'm glad I checked in.
edit : I just realized all the run-on sentences. Please excuse the grammar, I get crazy when it comes to writing. Alpental, it's a Service. That's all they had in stock at the store I went to, but I'm glad I got it, as it's going to replace my .357mag for my CCW, and I think the tactical would've been too big; and I like the fact that it's still a good sized (bigger) gun, as opposed to the SC, however, I haven't felt either of the other sizes, there might not be all that much difference. My .357 is a Taurus 605, with a 2" barrel, so it's nice to have a longer barrel, more of a full-sized gun, so I can open carry on rare occasions (camping and the like), and not have it look ridiculous (IMO the 605 does when open carried; I'm a big guy) Like I said elsewhere in this forum, I feel like a new parent every time I buy a new gun, and this XD9 is no different. I worry about everything that looks odd to me. It's all a part of learning. I was worried about the barrel slanting upward when the slide is locked, the guide rod sticking out to where I could see the rod, and I'm still worried about proper cleaning.. there's so many areas that seem unreachable, as compared to my .357 or 12ga.. oh well, it will come with time. The main thing I'm worried about now is drying it all up (the solvent) after giving it a good cleaning. I'm very particular about cleaning, as I'm sure most of you are. It just worries me that no matter how many q-tips and patches I go through, there's still wet spots inside.. oh well. I just keep it disassembled and let it dry for a few hours.
