I'm new to handguns and my final choice for my first came down to an M&P 9 or an XD 9. The M&P is a great gun... just not great enough. LOL Welcome!

If you're thinking of carry, an XD40 SubCompact is a great way to go. The only "Compact" is .45, which is actually a service or tactical model with a factory grip chop, and extended grip mag and compact mag. Also a great way to go!
