considering purchase
on june 17 I'm going to be turning 21 which is the age in the state of California one can purchase a Handgun, I have been considering the XD40 4" service model, firstly I was wondering how the trigger mechanism works...and what the pull is like...my previous handgun experience is exclusively with my Father's P-38, so I'm used to the traditional DA/SA..also if you know any good deals on the XD40 in the Los Angeles Area, I would be appreciative if you could drop me a line at marshallhroe@gmail.com Thanks!!

just buy it.. you know you want it, be one fine first handgun
seriously, the pull on the XD trigger is very nice, if you can handle a DA/SA you'll do fine with the xd trigger. welcome to the forum cheers

Of course you have to take a look at my previous semi pistol to understand my complete happiness with the XD trigger. Previously I had a HK USP 40, which was DA/SA. The SA trigger pull wasn't bad, but the DA trigger pull was almost a joke. |

I test fired a XD .40 and it had a nice trigger pull. Went to the XD .45 Service because I have a 1911 and uses the same ammo. I am extremely pleased with the XD and would highly recommend them.

got the xd40 service model myself and love it very much. it's my second pistol as my first was a sig 232 in .380 and felt like a girls gun. the xd fits my hand a whole lot better and even right out of the box with my 40 i took the center right out of the target. my big reason for going with the 40 was becasue next year i'm leaving the army and becoming an LEO where they use the 40 round. Figured it couldn't hurt to get used to it prior to so my marksmanship would be one less thing to worry about once I get there. If your looking for a good holster, I highly recommend the Blackhawk Serpa. I have one and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I have the xd9, and saw it advertised a couple years ago with the xd gear set up. Went on vacation and bought one. Loved it. Still do, its very comfortable in the hand, especially with my gorilla grips. Im thinking of buying a 45acp, and maybe even the 40. The grip frame is comfortable as anything. The only thing though, its not approved for my job up in NY. Even if it was, I would have to change to a 11lb trigger, which I dont think they have.
