Hi from a newb in the great PNW

Glad to find this fine website you have here! I've been lurking for a couple of days so I thought I would join in on the reindeer games!

Anyhow my dad tells me some months ago that he wanted a pistola and I didn't pay much attention to him since I thought it was just a whim. Keep in mind the last time he bought a handgun was in the late sixties before his second tour in Nam. I'm almost too embarassed to tell you that it was lowly Llama .32 eeekkkk. He buys this so mom can protect the family?

So he brings it up again last Saturday and we stroll on down to the Marksman for a look-see. I've been out the handgun loop for a few years (I won't list my lame excuses) and was overwhelmed by their selection. I was drawn to their display of XD's however and was interested. While the staff was helping others I checked out the other usual suspects in the store but the XD's said "pick me up I'm made for you". Keep in mind I had no preconceived notions about these guns and wasn't swayed by anything except a call to a friend that did a quick review search and said he didn't find a bad review. So the staff let us handle our choice and dad liked the 9mm. I started drooling, honestly a handgun never felt so natural in my hand, but it's not for me. Right?
So it's a done deal and makes his purchase and we go on with our day.
Well that evening I do a little research and find XDTalk and other websites, writers that love the XD's also. I show up at the gun store on Monday and buy the .45 compact. As I leave the store I call my wife and explain to her that I must have had a stroke or something and begged for her mercy. Nah, all was cool she got a new dishwasher last week!

Sorry for the longwinded story, hope to contribute to the forum, and am in love with my XD. Goin' to the range with my dad on Friday to try 'em out. In the meantime I've got to get the old guy practising racking the slide because it is pitiful right now. If he doesn't get better I might have to buy that 9 at a discount and outfit him with a revolver! Doh!

Good shootin'

Clem M.

Very nice... I bought my XDSC from there a few months ago and my dad just bought a G30 from them yesterday. Good place.

Welcome btw from Federal Way.

Hello to you and me!
I'm from Federal Way, and I will be hopefully getting my XD very soon. I turn 21 tomrorow (20th) so I will be applying for my permit on the 21st. By a chance does anyone know if anyone has the XD Service in .40 in OD green around here? I've been wanting one for the longest time!
