Hi Everyone.
I finally scored my NY Concealed Carry Permit which should arrive in about three weeks. I have waited about 10 years since moving from Florida to Illinois and then to New York. I lost my carry right once I hit Illinois. I had a Florida CCP for many years.
Now I have finally regained it. Thank goodness! These two states are NOT gun friendly. At least NY has carry privilege. That's better than I can say for Illinois. I decided to replace my 357 wheelgun with a 45 semi-auto for personal carry. The kick of the 357 mag is just too nasty. The XD 45 is much easier on my hand and certainly equal in effectiveness to the 357 mag. It also more than doubles my firepower with 10 +1 rounds vs 5. I chose the XD because of the widespread good reviews, excellent reputation of SA, and the grip safety which addresses one of the concerns I had about the Glock trigger safety. I was planning on getting myself a Glock but I was convinced otherwise by The many merits of the XD. When I finally got my hands on the XD, I knew that I made the right choice for me. I plan to add a KelTec P3AT to my collection soon. I'll slip that baby in my jeans pocket as a backup gun. I will probably carry the XD in my vest so I can keep it out of sight. Anyways.
