I think you have enough guns in your signature to be pre-emptively upgraded past "newbie" status...

Thanks...It's been a while since I owned a .45 (In the past I've owned Colt G'vt & Commanders). I looked at several SA/DA, Sig, H&K, and all the obvious SA 1911 styles, Kimber, S&W, etc. My main objective was to find a .45 that was good size to be a comfortable shooter and be carryable. I also wanted to get away from the heavy DA 1st shot and lighter SA 2nd + shots of my S&W 4013. I knew I did not want a Glock, and did not want to carry a 1911 cocked & locked. My main objective was "If I have to draw and shoot" I wanted to do just that. I did not want to have to drop a safety, cock a hammer...I wanted the 2nd shot to be just like the 1st. I am very comfortable with the various safety's built into the XD. When I decided to buy the XD was the 1st .45 I looked at and after researching and handling all the rest in the local shops...I came back to the XD. I love it!!!
