Just bought my first firearm

3 hours ago I purchased my first firearm; my XD 40 SC. I love it so far, but my father (my wife and I are staying w/ my parents until we have our down payment saved) really hates guns. I think that out of respect for him, I am going to store it at my storage unit.

Anyway, I'm uber-excited to finally have it!

man that is weak my dad hates guns also
i carry every day right in front of him and he doesnt even notice
i have had it for about a year and a half and he has no clue but he found out about my AR-15 funny thing is him and all his war buddies come over and drink and fill there bellies and it always turns up in there hands and they tell stories about the war ( i keep it unloaded and the ammo locked up)
at least that is what i gather there are all Vietnamese and i dont speak much more than i am hungry and so food names
but one day ill tell him
bottom line it is a hand gun let alone a SC he will never know

Congrats on the new XD and welcome to the forum from UT. Go out and shoot as much as you can. As this is your first handgun, you may want to look into taking some basic handgun/firearm/saftey classes. Find friends to go shooting with and enjoy. The biggest problem with firearms is that you rarely can have just one!

Which has greater stopping power? An XDSC 40, or the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

As to respecting Dad, I find myself lucky. My father is a gun collector, and while my mother was not happy about guns in the house, she wasn't entirely against it. (She even owns a Daranger).

Welcome to the Boards!
