NRA Dinner in SB - PIC!!! 56k=Death *UPDATE on pics*

this yellow piece of paper cost me $20

This is going to be my first handgun because I am not 21 till this coming Thursday. My B-day present to me.

When I finally get my hands on this gun, I plan on doing a trigger pull job. Can any of you guys point me in the right direction for parts and tell me why you liked it? Thanks.

EDIT:
I picked up the gun yesterday morning. Here are the photos of my brand new XD45.

I don't get it. What's the piece of paper for? And why do you need it?

Well, I went to an NRA dinner last night and they multiple raffles for various guns. I won this XD for $20.

This is my redemption ticket when I go to the FFL dealer who is holding my XD.

Dude, you won a pistol? How cool.

There are two places most popular for XD trigger jobs:

Springer Precision (Ore)
http://www.springerprecision.com/default.asp

and

Canyon Creek (Ill)
http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com/

I had a 2# trigger put into my XD 45 5" by Canyon Creek that was perfect in every way.

I had a 4-1/2# carry trigger put into my XD 40 4" by Springer that was exactly what I wanted but of course couldn't be compared to the CC job because it was intended for carrying (something you don't do w/ a 2# trigger!).

I recommend them both. Springer has a faster turn around and is closer (cheaper) for ME to send it in.

You should shoot the gun for a while and get used to it, think about what you'll be using the gun for (carrying? range fun only?) before making the leap.

I THINK that people don't use their local gunsmith for these because they are relatively new and if you dork it up, internal parts are harder to come by. This is now changing, however and Springer even sells a drop-in trigger kit for people who are willing to disassemble their guns.

Good Luck

Congrats on the prize. I always wondered how those give-a-ways worked if you could not purchase or own a gun but the yellow paper cleared that up. As was said above, go out and shoot the gun before you have any work done. See what you like and want to change and then search the forum for suggestions.
