Noob from northeast Indiana
Hi everybody.
just got my XD40 Service last thursday. First handgun I've ever owned. I went to the gun shop a week ago dead set on a Glock 23. I had never heard of the XD until the gun guy pointed it out to me. I know it felt better in my hand than the G23. After researching it a little (this forum was instrumental in that research, thanks!) I decided to go for it! Any tricks or tips from the seasoned XD vets here would be appreciated. |

Welcome finity.
As a noob myself, I'm reading as much as I can here to learn more about the XD. One great pistol, IMO.

Just curious....why the XD40? Oh, by the way, just ignore some of the nonsense that goes on around here and we'll all be just fine!

It's a compromise.
More stopping power than the 9mm but I didn't think I needed to go as far as the .45 for my first handgun. Who knows maybe the .45 will be my next. Actually, I'm thinking of a .357 magnum revolver for my next purchase. The choice of the service model was also a compromise between being easier for a ccw than the tactical but also easier to aim/shoot than the subcompact.
