Noob from northeast Indiana

Hi everybody.

just got my XD40 Service last thursday. First handgun I've ever owned.

I went to the gun shop a week ago dead set on a Glock 23. I had never heard of the XD until the gun guy pointed it out to me. I know it felt better in my hand than the G23. After researching it a little (this forum was instrumental in that research, thanks!) I decided to go for it!

Any tricks or tips from the seasoned XD vets here would be appreciated.

Welcome finity.
As a noob myself, I'm reading as much as I can here to learn more about the XD.
One great pistol, IMO.

Question Why the XD40?

WELCOME TO A GREAT PLACE !!!

Just curious....why the XD40?

Oh, by the way, just ignore some of the nonsense that goes on around here and we'll all be just fine!

It's a compromise.

More stopping power than the 9mm but I didn't think I needed to go as far as the .45 for my first handgun. Who knows maybe the .45 will be my next. Actually, I'm thinking of a .357 magnum revolver for my next purchase.

The choice of the service model was also a compromise between being easier for a ccw than the tactical but also easier to aim/shoot than the subcompact.
