Speer GoldDots for me, because I care enough to send the best, JHPs that is, not necessarily GoldDots. They just work for me.

Right now, I'm carrying Hornady TAP 230 gr +P in my XD-45 Service.

I just got ahold of some more Hydrashoks and Winchester Ranger (standard pressure) to test with. I've heard good things about the Ranger rounds, so if those work out well I'll stock up on that and stick with them.

the local police dept. here uses winchester rangers. i can't get them, the shops won't sell them to me for some reason, saying i can't use what the cops use.

I've never heard of that policy/law unless it's a local thing or state thing.

I use Winchester 115 gr. FMJ for the range and JHP for home protection. When I eventually carry I will probably use JHPs too.

Exclamation Ammo

I think these rounds would work well, especially if you want to watch'em jump, flinch, go down, and constantly scream, "Ouch!"

It's the slow approach to the unsolicited encounter.

aren't you required to use JHPs for self-defense? I knew New Jersey strictly does not allow you to use JHPs for self-defense, which doesn't make sense to me.
