For me, the service is no problem to conceal. I carry IWB at about the 1:30 position. The grip length is not the issue for me, it is the length of the gun. Now a 45ACP XD Sub-compact would interest me as a carry gun, but I have no real reason to dump my service for a compact.

Now, that being said, if I were buying my first XD 45, I might just go with the compact. The shorter grip would be make concealment a little easier, and you can alway have a service size by swapping the magazine.

Oh, and as far as the "Get Both" for the 9mm and 45ACP service pistols - I did!

buying my first semi auto last month ended up being an XD, i did just that, I went with the compact 4". i like it, and i'm surprised how with a good holster i can conceal this thing even with just a t-shirt. i bought a holster today and i'm trying different things with it. i can't conceal with my shirt tucked in with the holster i bought, but that's why i'm shopping for something like a kahr pm9.
