Senior Citizen New to Handguns
Well, after all these years of having strong feeling against the ownership of handguns I am now the proud owner of an XD9. I was so sure I was going to buy the Glock 19, until I held the XD9 in my hands. It just seemed a natural fit.
The straw that broke the camels back for me was the incident at VT and knowing that not only some fo the professors, but students as well, had permits to carry a concealed weapon but did not do so because of the rules of the university. There have also been a few home invasions in bayou land with the homeowners, primarily senior citizens, being shot to death. I will take time learning to use the gun safely and competently, then I will apply for a CCW and buy a subcompact. How else would one make a trip into New Orleans? Thanks to all of you much more knowledgeable folks for giving me so many useful tips already. Someday I will return the favor. |

Welcome to the forum. Just ask if you have any more questions. Everyone here is happy to help. I think you may be surprised at how valued a seasoned citizen's point of view is around here.

My dad bought an XD 45 Compact after he shot my 45 Service. He's 82, I think that qualifies as a senior citizen. Welcome to the forum, we're glad you're here!
