Thumbs up

A.R.T:

If you find a number in a gun's name it usually refers to the projectile diameter. Thus "XD9" is a 9mm.

Otherwise the gun's name is generally whatever some marketing type decides will get our attention. "XD" means "eXtreme Duty" or something like that. Smith and Wesson's new "M&P" line is re-using an old abbreviation for their "Military and Police" lines of revolvers.

Other names are related to the manufacturer of the ammunition the gun is designed to use or the name of the person who created the round.

About the only thing you really care about is that your gun and the ammunition you select to shoot in it have to match, and don't mix metric notation with English ("inches"). (Generally speaking English notation size information will have a leading decimal point - ".38" for example. Metric sizes like 9mm will have no decimal point or an internal one - like "5.62".)

It takes a while to pick this stuff up.... I've been at it since the late 60's and don't have it all down yet.

Regards,

Cool

Actually, I can say that she did quite well for a first-timer, just like someone else I took shooting last year.

She started off with a couple of ten-round magazines from a S&W 22-A, then stepped up to a Taurus 92AF, then my .40 Service.

Excellent shooting all around, and I was quite impressed with how quickly she picked up on everything.

I didn't even have to get onto her about covering people with the muzzle.
