Just bough my xd .40 about 2 weeks ago. Anyways..came home frmo shooting today and was cleaning it. Slid the barrel back in and whatnot and put the slide back on and cocked it back, and lifted the button that holds the slide back rotatated slide dissaembly lever back down(with some effort) and now the slide stop wont release. The slide if stuck back and it has no play, forward or backward. what do i do?

correction the slide stop lever is down. It seems like the barrel was not put back in completely correct and has the slide locked into place maybe?

It sounds like your recoil spring might be installed backwards. If so, you will be able to get the slide off with some effort. Be careful not to bang on it with anything hard like a metal hammer. Let us know how it works out for you.

maybe you missed a rail. i just did that the other night after cleaning mine. i had to use a rubber mallot to get it off. banged the hump out of the thing and i got it to go free. works like a champ now. ive never missed a rail before but it could happen i guess!
