correction the slide stop lever is down. It seems like the barrel was not put back in completely correct and has the slide locked into place maybe?

It sounds like your recoil spring might be installed backwards. If so, you will be able to get the slide off with some effort. Be careful not to bang on it with anything hard like a metal hammer. Let us know how it works out for you.

maybe you missed a rail. i just did that the other night after cleaning mine. i had to use a rubber mallot to get it off. banged the hump out of the thing and i got it to go free. works like a champ now. ive never missed a rail before but it could happen i guess!
