I Recently purchased an XD V-10 and I love it. However, as much as I love shooting, I loathe the outlandish prices at my local range. Last night I went with my two brothers in law, and for a little over an hours worth of shooting and a few boxes of 9mm ammo, it was $112!!!

That is the very reason why some people buy a gun and then never shoot it and then it ends up here in this Forum in the Trading Post. Nevertheless, we are glad you are here and I can't blame you for seeking elsewhere to do some shooting.

where in the valley are you? Phoenix rod and gun doesn't charge by the hour. Ben Avery up north doesn't either. If you want east there is the usery pass range which is very nice, doesn't charge hourly and also allows full auto so there is always a good chance of someone bringing out something to show off with.

Welcome to the forum, AZXD81.
My wife and I usually just go to Ben Avery. It's only about fifteen minutes from our house, so it's convenient, and at only $5 a person with no time limit, it's a nice, inexpensive range. The only catch is we're coming into the season of heat and they've adjusted their hours accordingly, so you have to go in the morning or evening, but no afternoons (except on weekends, and even that's going to change). Here's the new schedule: New summer hours begin May 1 The Ben Avery Shooting Facility Main Range and the Ben Avery Clay Target Center will change to new summer hours of operation for the public, beginning TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2007. The hours will be: Mondays: Closed Tuesdays: 5 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (closed 1-5 p.m.) Thursdays: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (closed 1-5 p.m.) Fridays: 7 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturdays: 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Note: When daytime temperatures consistently remain over 100F, the Ben Avery Shooting Facility Main Range and Ben Avery Clay Target Center will change Saturday hours to 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ( closed 1-5 p.m. ) and Sunday hours to 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Patrons will be notified in advance of when those hours will take effect through flyers at the range and postings on the Arizona Game and Fish Department Web site at azgfd.gov/basf or asgfd.gov/ctc Winter hours will resume sometime in late fall 2007. Those hours will be posted in advance at the range and on the Arizona Game and Fish Web site. If you're interested, I'm also a member of an Arizona-specific forum which has lots of good info about pretty much anything gun-related..... www.arizonashooting.com Happy shooting!

I hate paying hourly and having to buy their high priced ammo. But here in Yuma we have the Adair ranges which is FREE. There is a 1000yd range, a blackpowder ranger, archery range, Trap and skeet range. metallic range, and the pistol small bore range. It is nicely kept and the people that shoot out there are really safe.
Spragues sports has the indoor range here. It's nice but being they are the only game in town and they charge for it. Of course if I just want to dump a few rounds really quick for test purposes or something, I can just go to the end of the road over and shoot out into the desert, But I don't like that much cause you never know if someone is out there quading and they ride right up on your target.
