How to white out letters??

How do you do this to the lettering on our XD's?

clean and degrease the slide really well.. no solvents left on it. then you take a crayon and rub it over. I'm not sure if the slide has to be warmed a bit or not. but it's done with crayon. Or there are laquer sticks that can be used too. I'm sure someone else will give more detailed instructions. I haven't ever done this, I just know that's what they use.

I got mine nice and warm with a blow dryer first, the crayon melts into the crevices then, afterward you let it cool and then you clean the excess off the slide with a stiff piece of paper or cardboard.

I've wanted to do this since i saw the first picture or it, but what happens to the crayon after I put 200 rounds through it at the range? Wont it just melt out and make a mess?

No worries.... here is mine after a few 200-300 rd range trips.....

not the greatest pic, but it looks as good as the day I did it......
