New to XD/Talk

Hi,

I just purchased my third XD, a Service model 4" .45acp with dark earth frame, and I am as delighted with it, as I am with its two .40 S&W Tactical brothers. I will probably trade my two Kimber 1911s for two of the .45acp Tacticals, and stay Springfield Armory as far as short guns go...

I'm a diehard fan of the SA/XD line of pistols, the "Black Rifle" (AR-15), Benelli shotgun (M1014), swords by Angus Trim, knives (Scots) by Arik Estus, and Black Widow Longbows...

I don't own any firearm that isn't what others would call "tactical." If it ain't tactical, it ain't practical. The converse is not always true, however. Forums like this help me keep abreast of what is new, coming, or already on its way out. (I'd rather listen to the knowledgeable, than sift through lots of extraneous material in magazines.)

Other forums I'm a member of, include Sword Forum International and AR15.COM.

I like history and political science (I've taught both), military history, weapons of all eras, alternate history, science fiction, and fantasy.

Favorite writers? Heinlein, Weber, Flint, Stirling, Ringo, deCamp, Anderson, Clancy, the writers of Baen, Tor, Osprey labels, and others I've presently misplaced in the clutter of 57 years...

I expect that I'll enjoy my time here, as quite a few posts are informative, thought provoking, and fun. As there are many former military members here, as well as current and future holders of the Oath, I feel right at home.

La Rue Tactical has a wonderful saying on their header:

"GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS... ESPECIALLY OUR SNIPERS.

I heartily agree, and to that I'd add, those who make the weapons, ammo, and gear that make it possible for them to do their duty...

May you all always be safe, happy, healthy, and above all, FREE...

Welcome. The 45 XD Service was the one that got me into the auto pistol game. Look forward to your input on the forums.
