I read somewhere that Springfield Armory and another Firearm manufacturer both stated that if Illinois passes a Assult Rife Ban that they will pull out of Illinois. I am in Indiana just across the border from Crook County Illinois. They just passed an Assulot Rifle and Large Cap Mag ban - to the point that they have 90 days to get them out of the county. Now if they would just pass so when I am carrying in Indiana I could cross the state line - it would make my life much easier.

Having the company HQs here helps out with tax money, but Cook County is where the influence is. I think a two-Illinois solution is necessary. Issue CCW permits for everyone who wants them unless they are elected officials residing in the City of Chicago. This way Mayor Daley and the aldermen can feel self-righteous about their "no handguns" policy and also be very outgunned by the voters. We can even expand the no-permit rule to other cities and villages in Cook County whose elected leaders want to voluntarily give up their right to self-defense. I'm sure the elected officials in Oak Park, Winnetka, Park Ridge, and Aurora (in lovely DuPage County) would be more than happy to extend rights to everyone except themselves. It would show their concern and selflessness. (He said, knowing it would never happen...)

Besides, my dad's a retired cop. Why should he have all the fun of concealed-carry? Their yearly qualifying requirement is a nice excuse to go to the range, too. "Gosh, dear, I have qualification testing in... 51 short weeks! I need to go to the range, and fast!"

If you're lucky this is followed by: "Oh, all right, you can come along, too, I guess."

But yeah, Illinois needs CCW. All the cool states are doing it, too.

I saw an article/rant about Daley and his cronies with their anti-gun stance. Like the author stated; if they are so anti-gun then let their personal body guards also go gun free - why should they be able to buy protection by firepower (via the armed body guards) when they will not let the civillians who cannot afford to keep a full time body guard purchase firearms to protect themselves.
