welcome to the forum! great choice i have a xd service and sc .40 and i love them both i hae over 3600rds through my service and i love it, it is a great shooter and alot of fun. congrats on the new gun, my advice is that you buy all the ammo you can and shoot it and shoot it some more.
the only things i have done to mine is put a m6 light laser combo on it, since it is now my hd gun, i put a dgr and #22 spring in it, which helps with muzzle flip a little, but it was never a problem in the first place. and i put sand paper grips on it for when i shoot in cold weather or wet weather conditions.

Shoot the heck out of it and the trigger will get better. Also, if you are mechanically inclined, take the trigger parts out and polish them. It works wonders.
