Hello From Virginia

Hello all. I've been checking out this forum for a week or so, but didn't want to post until I made the leap...well, I finally did today. Bought a XD .45 ACP Service model at a local gun show, and 500 rounds of ammo to become proficient with. Will be heading out to the local range next weekend to break it in. Any suggestions/pointers/advice for me? I appreciate all input. Thanks.

Welcome aboard.

Great choice on the XD 45 Service. I think is the best XD (IMHO), but all are great. You'll find that the XD 45 Service has less recoil than a "typical" 45 ACP, and that "double Taps" at 7 yards are easy.

I suggest to look at the Truglo-TFO's for sight replacement, as I thinkg the stock sights negatively affect the available performance of that gun. please post pics and range report...
